Training
Training Requirements As a present or future spotter of the Stateline SKYWARN Organization, we require that all storm spotters have current training. The Organization has set a standard requirement for all active SKYWARN Spotters. Per the Organization, Every member must attend a Storm Spotter Class through the National Weather Service every year. This is to refresh the knowledge of the present spotters, and to give knowledge to the future spotters. Also, the Organization Highly recommends that every spotter obtain an Amateur Radio License – Technician level. This gives the spotter the ability to contact the Emergency Operations Center during severe weather. We also encourage non-licensed reports from personnel that have had Storm Spotter Training. The Organization welcomes all individuals with Spotter interests to Contact W5ALZ or KCØYOY for more information. We want to thank all of you that are current members and welcome the future Spotters!
